Publishing Ethics
Advances in Cognitive Psychology (ACP) is published by the University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw. Manuscript submission and processing is carried out via the ScholarOne Manuscripts system by Clarivate. The editorial board members, their affiliations, and contact information are given in the "Editorial team" tab.
ACP is a quarterly journal, publishing four issues in one volume per year, with up to eight articles per issue.
Open Access and Copyright
ACP publishes in an open access model. All published articles are available for download on the journal’s website. ACP follows the creative commons attribution non-commercial no derivatives 4.0 (CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0, https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/) license to published articles. Under this Open Access license, authors retain copyright and agree that anyone can copy and distribute their article free of charge as long as (a) appropriate credit is given, (b) the article is not modified, and (c) the article is not used for commercial purposes. Authors can reuse and reupload their published articles without any restrictions, including reuploads in institutional databases and personal websites, without the need to request permission from ACP. ACP has the right of first publication. Subsequent republications will require acknowledgment that the first publication took place in ACP.
Article Processing Costs
Upon acceptance of a submitted manuscript, the authors will be charged with the article processing costs of €800. These cover the production of the final PDF version of the article as well as the maintenance of the journal (website hosting, service subscription). If one of the authors is actively involved in the journal (e.g., as an editor), then the costs will be waived.
Journal Financing and Advertising
ACP is financed by the University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw / Akademia Ekonomiczno-Humanistyczna w Warszawie, Poland, the article processing costs, and governmental funding agencies (where applicable and indicated on the website). Article processing costs do not influence editorial decisions.
Editorial Policy Concerning Automatic Plagiarism Screening
ACP uses Crossref Similarity Check which automatically screens manuscript content for plagiarism at the point of submission. Manuscripts with a similarity index percentage of below 40% will proceed to evaluation in accordance with ACP’s peer-review process policy and the COPE Ethical Guidelines, as described in the “Review process” and “Publishing ethics” sections of Journal Info. Manuscripts with a similarity index percentage above 40% will be subjected to a manual review of the Similarity Check originality report, carried out by the Editor assigned to the manuscript. ACP and the Editorial Board reserve the right to withdraw the manuscript and ask the authors to resubmit it after reducing the similarity index, whereupon the manuscript will be screened for plagiarism again and proceed to evaluation after similarity concerns have been resolved.
Authorship Determination
The authors are responsible for determining and maintaining the final list and ordering of the authors as well as the correctness and accuracy of their listed affiliations. Changes in authorship during the peer review process, i.e., between subsequent rounds of revisions, will require a declaration signed by all the authors to be included with the revised manuscript. Changes in authorship after the initial acceptance of an article for publication or after its publication will not be possible.
Post-Publication Corrections
ACP is open to post-publication corrections and corrigenda. Requests for correcting the publications should be made directly to the Editorial Office. Introducing a change in the published article (i.e., a typographical correction) or the publication of a corrigendum will not be subjected to any article processing charges. The corrigendu will be linked in the original manuscript. More substantial post-publication corrections will be considered by the editorial board on an individual basis.
Policies in Case of Ethical Misconduct
ACP defines ethical misconduct as the systematic manipulation of the publication process in accordance with the COPE guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, authorship concerns (ghostwriting, plagiarism, fabrication of data, sudden and unexplained authorship changes) and inappropriate manipulation of the peer review process (e.g., suggesting fabricated reviewers).
In any case where such systematic ethical misconduct is detected, ACP will follow the COPE guidelines. Processing of the manuscript in question will be suspended. Thereupon, the authors will be contacted with a request for explanation. In the absence of a satisfactory explanation, the manuscript will be rejected and the authors’ affiliated institutions will be notified of the detected systematic misconduct.
Additionally, ACP requires authors to clearly disclose any conflicts of interest and/or competing interests on the title page of submitted manuscripts. The editorial team reserves the right to reject a manuscript if such information is missing or indicates potential conflicts.
